Publisher: Rhemalda Publishing

Staying in love can mean running away...
Two years after watching her kidnappers go to prison, Naomi Jensen is still in love with one of them. Jesse will be released in a few years, and Naomi knows college is the perfect distraction while she waits. But when her new friend Finn makes her question what is right and what is wrong, she begins to wonder if Jesse is the one for her... until she discovers he's out on parole. Naomi must sort through her confusion to figure out where love and freedom truly lie-in Finn, who has no connections to her past, or Jesse, who has just asked her to run away with him.

*A review copy was provided for the blog tour*

The Breakaway and Pieces are very different in style and writing, so they can easily be read as seperate standalone novels, which I think is really cool. Naomi's story in The Breakaway completely blew me away; I was surprised to find myself also falling for the kidnappers (especially Jesse), which I never thought would happen. I was so invested in her story that as soon as I heard there was a sequel, I went BALLISTIC. I'm so happy Argyle ended up continuing Naomi's story, because Pieces was just as suspenseful and exciting as The Breakaway, if not more.

Naomi is still trying to fix her shattered life back together- the aftermath of being held ransom for several months. As much as she tries, she just can't seem to forget the whole experience and put it behind her; even though Jesse is locked up behind bars. After all... maybe she doesn't want to. When Finn, the cute local guy from the Café asks her out, she decides it's time to start moving on, little by little. And what better way to begin than with the sweet, understanding guy next door who seems to see right through her?

Finn is a great guy. If my heart didn't already belong to Jesse, I might even have a tiny crush on him. The fact that he didn't judge Naomi for what she'd gone through at all, and took it in his stride was really awesome! I kept rooting for them to get together, because he seems like just the guy to help Naomi get back on her feet... and then came Jesse.

I'd totally forgotten how charismatic and charming this little devil is! He pretty much gets away with everything- you kidnap girls and rob banks? Pshhh... fine by me! The chemistry between him and Naomi is undeniable, and although I can't- no matter how much I try- see a happy ending for the two of them, I guess you can't choose who you fall in love with, it just happens. When it's there, it's real and everyone can feel it. I SO felt it, you guys.

I'd be totally fine with it if Jesse decided to kidnap me... Just saying! Although he was as hot and alluring as always, in Pieces I felt like a part of him was missing, kind of like all the sunshine and happiness about him had just vanished. I can understand why, but I wish he would have dealt with it in different, more LEGAL ways.

Pieces is a tempestuous, suspenseful follow-up to The Breakaway that skillfully flirts with deep psychological issues. Even if you haven't read The Breakaway and you're teetering on the edge of picking this jewel up, GO FOR IT!
